Meet Angel Garza
I am a member of Celebration Church. I have been a member for 6 years and have served in several capacities including worship, youth ministry, jail ministry, and woman's ministry. I just graduated this past May from Celebration school of ministry and am anticipating a bachelor’s degree in Human Services this fall from Southeastern University.
I have a passion for social justice and have just been offered an amazing opportunity. I have just been accepted into a three month program with the A21 Campaign in Thessaloniki, Greece. The A21 campaign exists to abolish injustice in the 21st century, focusing on prevention, prosecution, and protection of the survivors. In this program with the A21 Campaign, I will work directly with survivors of human trafficking in the A21 shelter and/or one of the A21 transition homes. Greece is known as “the center of trafficking’’ in Europe. Life for a victim of sex trafficking is an incomprehensible evil. This injustice is the reason I am going to the A21 headquarters in Greece. I am stepping out of my comfort zone into the unknown, having faith that God is going to use the talents and abilities I have to be a light for him in a dark and dangerous place. My intent on this trip is to empower and encourage the girls that have been rescued from this horrendous injustice to walk in complete the complete freedom, courage, and potential that come through a life with Christ. My plans upon returning from Greece are to continue to fight against human trafficking here in the United States. Over 17,500 victims are trafficked in the U.S. annually and 33% are American citizens.
